Becky's family roots go back centuries in Maine, and although she was brought up in Massachusetts, educated at Northfield School and Wellesley College, and spent her young adulthood in California, Nairobi, Kenya and Washington, D.C. raising her two daughters, when the chance came to come back to Maine, there was not a moment's hesitation!
She came back in 1981 and helped her retired parents run an oyster farm. She also took the Shelter Institute course to learn how to build houses from the foundation up, and spent five summers rebuilding 7 cottages on property owned by her family.
In 1983, while directing a children's choir and being a soloist with the adult choir, the director, who was a real estate broker, convinced her to get her license, and the rest is history.
Becky became very involved in the community, being a founding member of both the Damariscotta River Association and the Round Top Center for the Arts, and working as an EMT on the Newcastle/Damariscotta Ambulance Service. She even spent several seasons lobstering, spending some very peaceful time on the Damariscotta River. Time for all of these things became shorter and shorter as her real estate business grew, and in 2004 she sold $16 million. "Mid-Coast Maine is just a super place to live and work. It's beautiful, friendly, rich in history and wonderfully supportive of the arts. This is a thriving year-round community. I wouldn't live anywhere else!" |
